David was born on May 11, 1947, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, the second of four children to John Eric "Jack" Anderson and Jean Reed (Manor) Anderson.He graduated from West Mifflin North High School in 1965 and then attended West Virginia University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech: Radio, TV, and Film Production in 1971. . In later years, he delivered sawmill shavings for Corley Mill Lumber Company. David and Mary served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which were such wonderful and fulfilling experiences.
